A Rockstar From Philly

Diana Fernandez graduated in May 2017 with a B.S. in Mining Engineering from Penn State University. She was accepted into the Operations Trainee Program at Vulcan Materials and quickly became a rockstar in the Central Division.

“We mine the limestone necessary for roads, foundations, roof shingles,” Fernandez said. “Our resources are imperative. It’s our responsibility to ensure everything is done the proper way.”

Fernandez encourages young women interested in mining to “work as hard as possible and the right people will listen.”
